Cutest cats...

Hello everybody!!!

Spring is here!!! But only when you believe in your calendar... :D Honestly I'm fed up with this bad weather. I have enough with the grey clouds, the rain, the snow and the wind. I need some sun, at least to brighten up my mood. Never mind, hopefully the sun will come out the next days...
But today I will tell you a little bit about my cat's. Although my blog is about wool and yarn I think that my cat's fit perfectly in my wooly world.

So let me introduce you Desy and Lilo:

For me knitting and crochet goes together with cat's. The personality of a knitter works perfectly with the personality of a cat and they both like/love yarns... :D
If you don't believe me I got some evidence for you:

This is Desy, wearing a crocheted hat. It doesn't look like she enjoy's it, but she does...

This is Desy wearing some other kind of wooly thing... She looks a little bit crazy, but cat's are always crazy.... :D

And this is Desy wearing a little cute bow... After I had put her on that thing she began to purr...

And here we have Desy sleeping in my first self knitted blanket (I made that blanket out of yarn leftovers. When I finished my work both cats captured it and so it got the cat blanket...). She loves that blanket sooooo much. She always sleeps on or in that blanket, even in summer when it's hot...

Lilo likes wooly things as well... She is always around when there are some knitted or crocheted things laying around...

Do you believe me now?? :D

Okay then, I have to go. I have to finish some crocheting stuff... Have a nice day!!

Toys for my little friends...

Hi everybody!!!

What are you doing?? Did you have a nice weekend??
I did as usually a little bit of crochet...
The daughter of a friend of mine (she's 6) saw some of my crochet animals and toys and wanted to have one. So I decided to make her something...
After some surfing on the internet I found a very nice pattern for a cute sheep.
I can not show you the finished work, because I forgot to take a photo, so that's a little bit silly...
The next day the same friend told me that his son (he's 3) got angry because he got no toy. Okay, I had to make another one...
This time I made with nearly the same pattern a cute little lion and I did not forgot to make some photos. Lucky you! :D
So here I present you one of the toys I made the last two days:

Isn't it cute?? :D

He got a wooly brown mane...

Behind you can see one of my cat's... They love wooly things... :D

Both patterns are from the lion brand website.

Okay, I'm finished now...
I wish you a nice day!!!

Finished project...

Hey everybody!!

How are you?? Everything fine??
I'm fine because yesterday I finished the shawl for my mum and I already gave it to her. She was very impressed by my work, I think she still doesn't know that I'm quite good in knitting and crochet... :D
She like's the shawl, although she think's that it is a little bit too thick and too warm for now... But as the weather in this season is unpredictable I think she will be very happy about it when it get's cold outside again.

This is the finished product... The shawl is about 140 cm long and 35 cm high. On the picture it look's smaller than it is...

This is the cable wedge in detail. I think it come's out really good... Especially because I did it with the stockinette stitch.

Lilo and Calimero like the shawl as well... :D

That's it for today...
I wish you a nice afternoon!!

Progress... and a pattern

Hey guys!!

What are you doing??
I'm working on the birthday present for my mum... I had never thought that this shawl would be that much of work!! It's like it will never end...

I'm just halfway done and I have to finish it until friday... My fingers hurt :-(
Hopefully I can finish it in time...

Some of you asked me for the pattern of this shawl, so I started writing it...

knit = k
purl = p
increase = inc
decrease = dec

cast on 4 stitches
Beginning: k4
Next row: k1, inc between the first and second stitch, k3
1. row: k5
2. row: k5
3. row: k5
4. row: k1, inc between the first and second stitch, k 4
1. row: k6
2. row: k6
3. row: k6
4. row: k1, inc between the first and the second stitch, k 5

Increase always in the 4. row
Increase until you have 15 stitches on your needle (3 stitches for the border, each rib has 3 stitches, between the 3 ribs you purl one stitch and on the opposite of the border there is also one stitch)

1. row after increased the 15. stitch: k3, p3, k1, p3, k1, p3, k1
2. row: k4, p1, k3, p1, k6
3. row: k3, p3, k1, p3, k1, p3, k1
4. row: k1, inc between the first and the second stitch, then take the 3 knit stitches and the single purl stitch and put them on an extra needle. Put the needle in front of your work. Then knit the 3 knit stitches on your normal needle and one purl stitch. After that take the stitches from the extra needle and knit the 3 knit stitches and the single purl stitch. Then knit the last 6 stitches.

That was the first step of your cable wedge with 3 ribs.
Then go ahead:
1. row: k3, p3, k1, p3, k1, p3, k2
2. row: k5, p1, k3, p1, k6
3. row: k3, p3, k1, p3, k1, p3, k2
4. row: k1, inc between the first and second stitch, k4, then take the next 4 stitches (p1 + k3) on a extra needle and put that behind your work. Knit the next p1 and k3 stitches on your normal needle. Then knit the stitches of the extra needle (p1 + k3) and the last k3 stitches.

That's the second step of your cable wedge with 3 ribs.

Now you just have to repeat those two steps until your shawl is halfway done. Then you have to decrease at this points (always in the 4. row) where you before had increased.
Keep on doing this until you have again only 4 stitches on your needle. Fasten off and your shawl with a cable wedge is finished.

I tried to show you (with the help of Paint) what I mean when I say border or where the increasing is...
Hopefully with that pic it get's a little bit easier to understand what i mean...

I hope you can understand my pattern because this was the first time that I wrote one and the first time that I wrote it in english... So be a little patient with me :D

I also wish you a lot of fun with knitting your own shawl and of course I wish you a nice day!!

A new friend...

Hello my friends!!!

How are you doing?? What's the weather like??
I'm fine... I just finished a little project and I want to tell you something about...
Okay, let me introduce you my new friend, my new "pet" and the new mascot of this blog: Calimero.

I found his friends on this blog: Coco Rose Diaries
And then I thought that I also want to have this cute cat, that because of some weight in his hands, in his feet and in his bottom can sit and do some other positions...
These cats are called Amineko and are originally from Japan. After I have seen them on that blog I looked for a useful pattern on the internet. I found one and within a few hours the cat was done.

These are single pieces. As I already said there is a little bit of weight in the hands, feet and bottom. For that you can use plastic pellets, pebbles or something else. I used barley that I wrapped in a piece of cling film and put that in the right place. The body and the head get stuffed and then everything get sewed together.
And then I embroidered the face.

Isn't he cute?? I don't know why, but for me this is a male cat... Maybe becase of the color... Never mind :D

After I finished him, I thought that he probably would feel a little bit bare, so I decided to make him some clothes.

So he got a jacket and a bow tie. The next thing I will make him is a cap...

I also thought that this cute litte thing should have a name. Especially wehn it get's the mascot of this blog... After a little bitr of rummage I remembered a TV programme that I watched when I was a kid. It's called Calimero and it's originally a italian animated figure:

Yes, it's not a cat, but I like this TV programme so much that I decided to name the Amineko cat like this bird chick.

Yeah, and that's now the new mascot of this blog: Calimero

If you want to make a Amineko cat, here you can find the pattern: Amineko cat
(in the third column, the part that is not written in japanese)
Because of judicially reasons: the copyrights are reserves by Nekoyama.

I wish you a lot of fun and a nice afternoon!!

A little bit of cute paper and a little bit of yarn...

Hey guys!!

I've been crative again... This time I used just colored paper and yarn to make some blossoms  which can also be used as greeting cards for presents or something like this...

Have a look:

Aren't the just cute?? I love the colors!! And especially the paper!! One has green stripes, another one is red with white dots and the next is pink with white dots. I just love it!!

Let's have a closer look:

There are just the greetings missing... Maybe something like "Happy Birthday" or... I don't know... :D

This is my currently work. What about you?? On what are you working on right now?? Let me know...

Have a nice day!!!!

Birthday present

Hello my friends!!

It's a little bit busy right now... Currently school is just a waste of time...
But let's talk about something else. Yesterday I started with a new project. I started knitting a baktus. I don't know if you know what a baktus is or if baktus means in english the same as in german. A baktus is a very easy knitted shawl.

I use a white merino superwash to knit with needles nr. 4. I use needles with the number 6.5, so the shawl get's a little bit loose. At the end I want to have a not to tight knitted shawl as the birthday present for my mum. I don't want that the shawl get's to thick because spring is coming and having a thick wooly thing around your neck when it's warm is not so fine... :D

As you can see I started a cable stitch which I want to go through the whole shawl. I'm doing the cable stitch with 3 ribs, so it get's a little bit bigger than just with 2 but doesn't get's to big, that it appears to bulky...
Between the work: a cup of coffee...

And then a little bit of playing with yarn...

Do you see the little ball of yarn and the tiny needles??
I had a little bit of yarn left over and then the idea of making a small ball of yarn with some cute mini needles came to my mind...

So sweet... :D

And yes, that's it...
I wish you a nice day!!!

Crafternoon...

Hello my friends!!!

How are you?? Everything okay??
Today I was really productiv, I've tried out a lot of different patterns...
Do you wanna see some??? Of course you do :D
So let's have a look:

That's just a little cap I made for a premie. I tried out how big it has to be to fit for such a little baby. My intention actually was to make a few for the hospital, but then the cap got to big and wasn't like I wanted it... Maybe I try out something different at a later date...

Then I tried out some stars...

This one is sooo cute!! You can find the pattern here: http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/teeny-tiny-stars.html%20

Then I made a snowflake. Yes I know, spring is comming, but this snowflake is so easy and cute. And I thought maybe I could need it for next christmas, so I already have the pattern... :D
If you want to make one, here you can find the pattern: http://accordingtomatt.blogspot.de/p/blog-page.html

After that I made some flowers. I love it when I can use a lot of colors so they get as colorful as possible...

Of course I try that the colors go together... So mostly I go in order with the colors of the rainbow.
The pattern for those flowers you can find here: http://theflowerbed-shr.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/week-8-flowerfrom-wk-7-octagon.html

And last but not least I tried out some stuffed animals. I'm not sure what this one should be... I think it's a teddy but others say that it looks like a mouse. Whatever it is, I think it's cute and I already got some orders from friends to make them one...

And here we have a bunny. Made with nearly the same pattern, just the ears and the "shirt" is different.
They are so easy and fast to make!! I'm sure that they get some more friends... :D
If you're interested I have the pattern for you as well: http://petitepurls.com/Fall09/fall2009_anything.html

Okay, that's it...
I had a productive afternoon... What about you?? What do you prefer to knit or crochet when you have a little bit of time?? Tell me... :D

I wish you a nice day and a lot of fun with your knitting and crochet...
